Nice Cote d'Azur Airport to Monaco

Nice Cote d'Azur Airport to Monaco Taxi | Fixed Price from €110

Distance: 30 kmTypical driving time: 35-45 min

Nice airport is the natural gateway to Monaco. The principality is 30 kilometres east along the coast and the drive takes about 40 minutes on the A8 motorway, which climbs behind the coastal towns and drops down into Monaco from the Moyenne Corniche side.

The alternative coast road, the Basse Corniche, is one of the most beautiful drives in Europe and one of the slowest in July and August. We take the A8 by default because it is reliable, and the tolls are already in the price. If you would rather see Villefranche, Beaulieu and Cap-d'Ail from the water's edge, ask when you book and the driver will take the corniche instead.

Monaco is compact but vertical, and addresses matter more than they do elsewhere. Monte-Carlo, La Condamine, Fontvieille, Larvotto and Monaco-Ville sit at different levels connected by tunnels and public lifts, and the difference between being dropped at the right entrance and the wrong one can be several flights of steps with a suitcase. Give the full address, including the building name, when you book.

Drivers are used to the principality's access rules, including the restricted approaches during the Grand Prix weekend in late May, when whole streets close and the usual hotel entrances move. Tell us your hotel and we will plan the approach that is open on the day.

The same transfer works in reverse for departures. Monaco to Nice airport needs about 45 minutes plus a margin for the tunnel and the airport approach, and we schedule it backwards from your check-in deadline rather than from the departure time.

Where your driver waits

Nice airport has two terminals. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight uses, with a name sign, close to the exit doors. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are a few minutes apart by shuttle, so we take the terminal from your flight number rather than asking you to check.

What is included

  • A8 motorway tolls between Nice and Monaco
  • Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name sign
  • Flight tracking and automatic rescheduling after a delay
  • Sixty minutes of free waiting after landing
  • Luggage, including golf bags and ski equipment, at no supplement
  • Payment by card or in cash directly to the driver

How this compares with the alternatives

We would rather you booked with the full picture. Here is what else is available on this route and what each option really costs you.

Express coach from the airportFare set by the regional networkAbout 50 minutes on a fixed timetableA comfortable coach with luggage space that runs direct to Monaco. It serves a handful of stops in the principality, so from there you still climb or take a lift to your hotel.
Tram plus TER train via Nice-VilleFares set by the regional networkAround an hour with a changeCheap and frequent. It means the airport tram to Nice-Ville, then a regional train, then the walk or lift up from Monaco-Monte-Carlo station, which is built inside the rock.
Helicopter shuttlePriced per passenger, well above a private carAbout 7 minutes in the air, plus check-in and transfers at both endsSpectacular and genuinely fast in the air. Door to door the advantage shrinks once you add the heliport transfers, and it is weather dependent.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the transfer from Nice airport to Monaco?

About 40 minutes for the 30 kilometres on the A8. In July and August, or on Grand Prix weekend, allow an extra 20 to 30 minutes for traffic on the approaches to the principality.

How much is a taxi from Nice airport to Monaco?

Our fixed price is €110 for a business sedan and €130 for a van carrying up to seven. Tolls and luggage are included and the price is per vehicle.

Can we take the coast road instead of the motorway?

Yes, at no extra cost. Ask for the Basse Corniche when you book and the driver goes along the shore through Villefranche-sur-Mer, Beaulieu and Cap-d'Ail. It adds roughly 20 minutes outside summer and considerably more in peak season.

Do you drive inside Monaco to the hotel door?

Yes. Monaco is vertical and its districts sit at different levels, so give the full address including the building name. The driver takes the approach that leaves you at the correct entrance rather than several flights of steps away.

What about the Grand Prix weekend?

Large parts of Monaco close to traffic during the late-May race weekend and the usual hotel approaches change. Tell us your hotel when you book and the driver plans a route that is open, allowing extra time for the diversions.
